This is truly one of the Metropolitan areas true undiscovered talents! Born and raised in Silver Spring Maryland this young man constantly defied all odds and took his dream all the way to the NBA. As a high school All Metropolitan Area First Team Selection, "Gus" led Montgomery Blair High School to it's best basketball season in twenty years. With his twenty points and eight rebounds a game average Gus used his street taught basketball skills to retain a full scholarship to St. Bonaventure University. There he was a four year starter and with his seventeen points and six rebounds a game average, led his team to two NIT Tournament births.

David Vanterpool
(Gus)
After all of that he was still not drafted by the NBA! This did not stop him though, he continued to play ball all the time. First, for various summer leagues then he went overseas to play for a paycheck. While overseas he led his team to two back to back Championship appearances, and one Championship win! Near the end of the 2000/2001 NBA season Gus was called up by the Washington Wizards and signed for the rest of the season. He played hard inspired basketball and even though the team was not very good he stood out! Due to salary cap reasons he was not resigned to the team the following year. He went on to play for Detroit, New Jersey, and Boston before he was released for political reasons. After things did not work out he went back overseas to play where he currently one of the top ten best players in the league every year! Even though he is doing well his goal is to make it back to the league, so he continues to play for another shot! Look out for him on a NBA roster in the future! He Loves To Do It!

Mike Gordon
(Hammer)
All Metropolitan area player in 1991. This young man took football as a route to get him off the streets. With his amazing speed and great hands Hammer led Montgomery Blair high school in catches and touchdowns for two years straight. Even though the team was not that good, he was a standout! From there he went to Montgomery College and help lead his team to a conference title. Then transferred to Bowie State University where his skill landed him a starting position at wide receiver. He led his team once again in catches and reception yards and their first winning season in five years! Because of his size and lack of exposure he was overlooked by the NFL but this did not stop him. He went to play for the arena football league where he is still currently a standout player. Just last year he caught five touchdown passes and returned six punt's for touchdowns. His drive is tremendous, His work ethic is incredible, and his hunger is overwhelming. Everywhere he goes he becomes a key contributor for that team! If he ever gets a serious look by the NFL he will shock the world, but until then Hammer continues to put it down where ever they let him! Remember the name, you will hear it again real soon "Mike Gordon"
